Hansal Mehta’s slice-of-life entertainer _Simran_ , starring Kangana Ranaut did not fare as well as it was expected to, both critically and commercially. After recording a lukewarm response on its opening day, the film showed gradual improvement, leaving behind its competitor, the Farhan Akhar and Diana Penty starrer Lucknow Central. The sluggish pace was attributed to the India vs Australia match by trade analysts. Passing the crucial Monday test was imperative for a successful run for the film and by making another crore on the first day of the week, the film crosses the Rs 12 crore mark. As per the latest update, Simran managed to make another crore on Tuesday. Its collections now stand at Rs 13.31 crore, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Receiving mixed-reviews from critics, who praised Ranaut’s ability to carry the film on her shoulders, but couldn’t save the weak storyline from sinking the film. Recently, reports of Simran’s underperformance affecting the budget of Ranaut’s upcoming historical drama Manikarnika had surfaced. However, the claims were rubbished by the co-producer.
