After celebrating the resounding success of Raees, Shah Rukh Khan will begin shooting for filmmaker Anand L Rai's next in which he plays a dwarf.
Hindustan Times reports that the actor has confirmed that the makers have done a look test and are also through with the trailers. He revealed that they will unveil the look soon and hopes that the audience will accept their effort. Also, Khan clarifies that his look in the film is very different from Kamal Haasan's look in Singeetam Shrinivasa Rao's 1990 comedy film Appu Raja.
Haasan played Raghpathy, a dwarf who works as an entertainer in a circus. However, it was earlier reported that Rai's film is set in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Rai went on a recce to the city to hunt locations two months ago. Since Khan has clarified that his look is not similar to Haasan's, it is unlikely to see him as a part of a circus in the film. In case he does, it will be a familiar territory as he starred in Kundan Shah and Aziz Mirza's television series Circus way back in 1989.
The same report states that Khan will begin shooting for Rai's film on 21 March and is likely to wrap up the shoot by August or September. Since Khan is expected to take a break in July for promoting his Imtiaz Ali directorial, the shooting schedule might even be pushed further.
Khan also clarifies that Rai's film is not titled Bandhua as the title is already taken. They are looking for another suitable title for the long-awaited film.
A report by DNAstates that Khan was also expected to meet filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali regarding the Sahir Ludhianvi biopic in the last week of January but that may have not happened after Bhansali's encounter with Shri Rajput Karni Sena in Jaipur during the same week.
Rai's film starring Khan is slated to release on 21 December, 2018.
