It was earlier reported that Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan are likely to star in Abhishek Varman's period drama Shiddat, their fourth film together.
Now, Spotboye reports that Sanjay Dutt has also been signed to play a pivotal part in the film. This will mark Dutt's first collaboration with both Alia and Varun. However, he has had a number of collaborations with their respective filmmaker fathers — Mahesh Bhatt and David Dhawan.
Dutt has starred in Mahesh's 1986 directorial Naam, his 1988 action film Kabzaa, his 1991 romantic thriller Sadak, his 1993 crime thriller Gumrah and his 1999 action film Kartoos. He will reportedly team up with Mahesh and his eldest daughter Pooja yet again for Sadak 2.
Sanjay has collaborated with David in films like his 1989 action film Taaqatwar, his 1999 comedy Haseena Maan Jaayegi, his 2000 film Chal Mere Bhai, 2001 film Jodi No 1, 2002 ensemble film Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, 2002 film Yeh Hai Jalwa, 2003 film Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, 2005 film Shaadi No 1 and 2011 film Rascals.
Now, Dutt might be seen sharing the screen space with the children of the two filmmaker, who even shook a leg on the rehashed version of Dutt's popular song from the 1991 film Thanedaar — 'Tamma Tamma Again'.
Shiddat is a cross border romantic drama which is currently in the pre-production phase. It will be directed by Varman who has directed Alia in the 2014 romantic comedy 2 States. The film will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Reportedly, it also stars Aditya Roy Kapur and is scheduled to go on floors by the end of next year.
