There might be a new addition to the stellar cast of Rajkumar Hirani's biopic of his longtime collaborator and actor Sanjay Dutt. It could be none other than Dutt's good friend and co-star Salman Khan.
Yahoo News and International Business Times report that owing to their special bond, Dutt wants Khan to be a part of his biopic. While it is unsure if Khan will play himself or a character on screen or even that the makers have approached him for a role, it will be nonetheless interesting to watch him share screen space with Ranbir Kapoor.
Dutt and Khan have collaborated in films like Lawrence D'Souza's 1991 romantic drama Saajan, David Dhawan's 2000 comedy Chal Mere Bhai and Dhawan's 2002 comedy Yeh Hai Jalwa. They have even hosted the reality show Big Boss together.
However, since Ranbir is playing Dutt's role in the latter's biopic, it casts a dark cloud over Khan being a part of the film.
Though the two have shared the screen space in Rajkumar Santoshi's 2009 romantic comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani for a scene in which Khan made a cameo, their personal relationship has reportedly gone for a toss since then.
Since Ranbir broke up with Katrina Kaif, who is still on good terms with her ex beau Khan, the senior actor has reportedly not taken that too kindly. While Ranbir and Kaif are gearing up for the release of their next, Anurag Basu's action comedy Jagga Jasoos, Khan has maintained a safe distance from Ranbir. Thus, his involvement in the Dutt biopic seems unlikely.
Dutt's biopic also stars Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal, Dia Mirza, Karishma Tanna, Jim Sarbh, Vicky Kaushal and Manisha Koirala. It is co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Hirani and is expected to release later this year.
