Salman Khan will soon be foraying into the theatre business with the launch of Salman Talkies, a single screen theatre chain with cheaper movie tickets and great movie-watching experience.
Salman's core fan base is known to watch films in single screen theatres and this may be the reason for his choosing this market section.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the actor-producer will be starting with six theatres from all over Maharashtra and later expand to Uttar Pradesh. The tickets will be sold at subsidised rates for adults, and free for children.
The theatres will be launched during Diwali with two of the biggest releases for this year Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay.
Speaking at a recent event, the actor discussed rising ticket prices, “If a film has to flop, the effect of the loss should be as little as possible. Jai Ho did a business of Rs 138 crore with tickets priced at Rs 200. On weekdays, the prices were down to Rs 100 but since we didn’t publicise this fact, people said, 'Arey is that the only business?'"
The actor also plans to build a private theatre for himself and has zeroed in on two properties in Juhu and Bandra. He will be finalising one of them once he's back from Manali where he is currently shooting for his upcoming film Tubelight.
Recently Salman's brand Being Human that consists of a clothing line also forayed into the jewelery segment.
