Salman Khan unveils first look of Shah Rukh Khan-Imtiaz Ali film; to clash with Akshay's Crack?

Twenty four hours after actor Aamir Khan garnered headlines for the Fat to Fit video chronicling the extreme body transformation he underwent for his role as wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat in the upcoming Dangal, Salman Khan revealed the first look of Shah Rukh Khan’s film with director Imtiaz Ali, tentatively titled The Ring. The bash was presumably the celebration of the impending launch of actor Suniel Shetty's son Ahan in a Sajid Nadiadwala film . Salman, who has always encouraged Suniel’s children to take up acting, threw a bash and also invited Shah Rukh to join in the celebration. Salman also tweeted the first look of Shah Rukh’s upcoming film with Imtiaz Ali, which also stars Anushka Sharma. Salman’s excitement about the film was palpable and he even added that he has decided the release date of the film: 11 August 2017. This makes it an Independence Day release. Interestingly, Shah Rukh’s next is a Republic Day release as Rahul Dholakia’s Raees is slated to be in theatres on 26 January 2017.

The Ring stars Shah Rukh and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles and has been shot in Budapest, Prague and Amsterdam. While it is their first film with Ali, it is their third collaboration as co-stars after Sharma’s debut film Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Yash Chopra’s last film Jab Tak Hai Jaan.  News 18 reports that Shah Rukh plays a guide in the film, presumably similar to Aamir’s role in Kunal Kohli’s Fanaa. After Salman released the first look of the film, Shah Rukh’s co-star from the recently released Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi, Alia Bhatt also echoed her excitement about the film. India Today reports that Bhatt had been pushing Shah Rukh to use his Instagram account more creatively and is happy to see his progress as evident by the stills that he uploaded from the sets of Ali’s film.

August is tooo far away ya!!!!! @AnushkaSharma @iamsrk.. Am saving the date immediately.. But Imtiaz what to put in as the title???#CantWait pic.twitter.com/Jme1LrPG4K

Bhatt was recently seen sharing the screen space with Anushka in a special appearance in filmmaker Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Also, Bhatt has worked with Ali in the critically acclaimed Highway. Shah Rukh then went on to thank both Bhatt and Salman for promoting his film. In a funny moment, Anushka tweeted to Shah Rukh wondering when the release date of their film was decided. The witty charmer that Shah Rukh is, he replied with another hilarious tweet.

Thank u @beingsalmankhan & @aliaa08 for the date of Imtiaz’s film. Ab bas title dhoond do! Wot u seek is seeking u… pic.twitter.com/rePpfmWAtw

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

While Dear Zindagi released sans any tough competition, Shah Rukh’s next two releases with clash with filmmaker Sanjay Gupta’s action drama Kabil starring Hrithik Roshan and probably with director Neeraj Pandey’s Crack starring Akshay Kumar. Last Independence Day, immediately after the release of his film Rustom, produced by Neeraj Pandey, Kumar took to Twitter to release the first look of his film Crack, to be directed by Pandey. Kumar added that the film will release on the 2017 Independence Day weekend. Thus, it is quite clear that Kumar and Shah Rukh are in for a huge clash. Kumar’s Rustom also clashed with Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro in a box-office battle that saw Kumar gain the upper hand. Crack will be his third collaboration with Pandey in an actor-director capacity after Special 26 and Baby.

This time,we come together for 'CRACK' - A Neeraj Pandey film. Releases Independence Day weekend 2017.Need your love pic.twitter.com/YcOeNkl38j

DNA reports that Shah Rukh is yet to complete a few shooting schedules of Ali’s film. On the other hand, Kumar is extremely busy shooting Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Jolly LLB 2 and Robot 2.0. Thus, the release date of Crack is likely to get postponed which casts a dark cloud over the epic box office clash. Regardless of the clash, it seems like Shah Rukh has the backing of his contemporary Salman and Bhatt. Given the excitement of the Twitterati about the first look of the film, Shah Rukh has nothing to worry about.
