Filmmaker Kabir Khan has put all the rumours to rest. Or has he? He has stated on record that Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo in his next Tubelight has not been confirmed, yet.
Bollywood Life.com reported on 31 October that Shah Rukh has been roped in to share the screen space with fellow superstar Salman Khan in Kabir’s war drama Tubelight. Fans of both the Khans rejoiced at the news of that development.
However, Kabir has not officially announced Shah Rukh’s cameo yet. Hindustan Times reports that Khan was asked to verify if Shah Rukh and Salman will share the screen space. Kabir said that he has heard the rumours too but nothing has been finalised yet.
“When I’ll get to know I’ll let you know. But for now, all these are just rumours,” said Kabir.
Had the filmmaker confirmed Shah Rukh’s cameo, it would have been the sixth time that the two Khans would have shared the screen space, this time after 17 years.
Their last appearance on the silver screen together was in 2002 in K. S. Adhiyaman's directorial Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. Prior to that in 2000, Shah Rukh played a cameo in Raj Kanwar’s Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega which featured Salman in the lead role. Shah Rukh was just returning the favour to Salman who had done an extended guest appearance in Shah Rukh’s 1998 blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, directed by Karan Johar.
Apart from these two rom-coms, the two megastars have also appeared together in Mehmood’s 1996 flop film Dushman Duniya Ka. However, their most loved appearance together continues to be in Rakesh Roshan’s 1995 super hit Karan Arjun in which they played estranged brothers.
Since Kabir has not denied Shah Rukh’s cameo in Tubelight either, we fervently hope that it happens and we get to see the two stars share the screen space after 15 years of tussles and one-upmanship.
