Rock On 2's first song 'Jaago' is here, but it only puts you back to sleep
After creating a lot of buzz with their teasers Rock On 2 has now released its first song, 'Jaago'.
With women empowerment being the flavour of the season, this song also dwells on the subject. Written by Javed Akhtar, the lyrics are meant to inspire women.
"Teri zindagi/ Teri hai jaise tu jiye/ Aaj har khushi/ Duniya mein hai tere liye"
Composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, the song is sung by Farhan Akthar and Siddharth Mahadevan.
The song features the rock band Magik performing at the Gateway of India in Mumbai, yet the song seems to be devoid of any magic.
For a rock song, it completely seems to lack enthusiasm and energy. While Farhan Akhtar engages in a lot of high voltage activity in the song, like climbing up a ladder, a cable stunt and some crazy jazz in a lifeboat none of that reaches out to the audience.
Further the song has way too many similarities with Rock On!!'s song 'Socha Hai'. That was also shot in the Fort area of Mumbai and had a similar look and feel. But unlike this lifeless song, Socha Hai was more catchy and memorable.
While Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli also support him on the instruments, the song completely focuses on Farhan Akhtar. To the extent that we barely get a glimpse of the other actors in the song.
Apart from the name, nothing else in this song will make you 'Jaago'.
We can only hope that the other songs from the film will be able to 'Relive the Magik'. Watch the song here:
