Ribbon: Charkha Ghoom Raha Hai explores struggles of Kalki Koechlin, Sumeet Vyas as parents
A new song from Kalki Koechlin and Sumeet Vyas' much awaited film Ribbon has just released and it chronicles their highs and lows as parents in a believable and real way.
The song, titled 'Charkha Ghoom Raha Hai' is mostly set in a club (the only thing that's odd about the music video, as the song has a very Indian Ocean, Advaita kind of feel) and shows Koechlin and Vyas as they go through the journey of parenthood. An earthy sounding melody, 'Charkha Ghoom Raha Hai' has been sung by Aniket Mangrulkar. The lyrics of the song have been penned down by Dr Sagar, and the music has been provided by Mikey Mccleary. Overall, the song has a very soothing effect and makes one reflect on the unstoppable passing of time.
Koechlin and Vyas are the main focus of the music video, along with their on-screen little baby girl. There are happy moments as well as painful ones in the song, as the stress of parenthood is depicted clearly, however in a masterful stroke we are also shown the flipside — the unending joy that a child brings.
Kalki Koechlin and Sumeet Vyas' upcoming film Ribbon shows a young couple navigating through an unexpected pregnancy and their life thereon.
Directed and co-written by Rakhee Sandilya, Ribbon is a Red Cart Films production. It is slated to release across India on 3 November.
