As the shoot of Padmavati is underway, it has been reported that Ranveer Singh, who plays Alauddin Khilji in the film, might be seen as Kapil Dev, former captain of the Indian cricket team, in Kabir Khan's next directorial.
As per a DNAreport, the gifted actor might essay the role of the sportsman, who led India towards victory in the 1983 World Cup.
It was earlier being reported that Arjun Kapoor was being considered to play the leading role. However, the tables seem to have turned in Singh's favour as DNA states that the actor has been finalised.
The film will be helmed by Tubelight director Kabir Khan and Anurag Kashyap will get on board to produce it. However, there is no official confirmation yet, from either sides.
Singh is known to be a cricket enthusiast. He often congratulates team India on their wins and also tweets about his favourite players and teams.
If Singh is finalised to play Dev, it will be interesting to see how he combines his inclination towards sports and stellar acting skills to portray one of the legendary cricketers of all time.
Singh was last seen in Aditya Chopra's 2016 film Befikre opposite Vani Kapoor.
