For years I have struggled with a question - Is Rakhi Sawant really what she projects herself as on social media?
So I naturally jumped at the idea of interviewing her and did what was needed - text her. Because she can't talk, she just sends WhatsApp messages. Couple of nerve-racking conversations and voice-note exchanges later, I was sitting in the living room of her 40th floor Oshiwara house.
And so we began.
Between a few cuss words here and a few contentious allusions there, Rakhi proves that she has an opinion on everything. Mostly, we talked politics, Narendra Modi, her hopes of getting a BJP ticket, her short stint with RAP and Yogi Aditynath's style of governance.
I am stunned by some of her answers because she actually talks with eloquence barring occasional cuss words, and backs her statements with facts. And in some places I was just...perplexed.
As I get up to leave, there's one thing I'm sure of, I still don't know what to make of her.
