Nach Baliye 8: Harbhajan Singh, Geeta Basra get emotional; Mona-Vikrant impress
Bhojpuri film actress, Mona Lisa, who came into limelight with the controversial reality show Bigg Boss along with her partner Vikrant Rajput, clearly outclassed the rest of the four contestant-pairs in episode six of Star Plus’ celebrity dance reality show Nach Baliye 8 aired on 22 April, with smooth and swift dance moves.
The couple performed on 'Dreamum Wakeupum' with perfect comic timing. With humour attached to their story, this was the only couple whose characters were apparent in their performance. Cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who along with his actress-wife Geeta Basra appeared on the show as celebrity guests, was heard saying that he expected Mona and Vikrant to perform on the Bhojpuri song 'Tu Lagawelu Jab Lipastick', but they still gave a “sixer” performance on this song with Tollywood flavour.
Harbhajan and Geeta raised the romance quotient of this episode of Nach Baliye 8 with their candid chemistry. After playing cricket with the judges and the contestants, the cricketer shook a leg with stand-up comedian and contestant Bharti Singh, who took some tips from the cricketer about the moves made by cheerleaders, and the duo shook a leg to 'Kaala Chashma'. Geeta also made Harbhajan perform a pole dance, which he failed at terribly.
However, things took an emotional turn after Siddharth and Trupti Jadhav’s performance, where Trupti portrayed a character suffering from a fatal illness, and Siddharth tried to make her character's life beautiful. Everyone was left teary-eyed after watching their heart-rending routine set to the song 'Jo Tu Mera Humdard Hai' from Ek Villain. The contestants got a standing ovation from all, and Harbhajan was so touched, that he went onto the stage and apologized to Geeta for unknowingly hurting her in the past. Ek Villain director and judge Mohit Suri felt that the couple did complete justice to the emotional song.
While Siddharth and Trupti went on to become the highest scorers of the day with Mona Lisa and Vikrant coming second, it was Dipika Kakar-Shoaib Ibrahim and Sanam Johar-Abigail Pande's performances that were quite impressive. This was the first time that Dipika’s fans got to see the glamourous side of the Sasural Simar Ka actress. The duo performed jazz to Madhuri Dixit-Anil Kapoor’s foot-tapping number 'Dhak Dhak'. One of the judges, actress Sonakshi Sinha, found their performance strong, and the other judge, Terence Lewis, felt that both Dipika and Shoaib were confident in their look and feel, and that every transition in their routine was beautiful.
Sanam Johar and Abigail Pande set fire to the stage with their energetic and hot moves on 'Kisi Ke Haath Na Aayegi Yeh Ladki'. Sonakshi even said, “This match is made in heaven when it comes to dancing,” after watching them. The judges praised Abigail for matching her partner's energy levels. Sanam, used Abigail as a prop for certain steps. Bharti and Haarsh were the lowest scorers of the day, with 25 points. The duo danced to 'Ooh La La' from The Dirty Picture, and the props used in their performance kept falling apart, leading to many hilarious moments.
