After a disastrous rehash of the iconic song, 'Gulaabi Aankhien', Sonakshi Sinha is seen shaking a leg in yet another disco number from Sunil Sippy's Noor - 'Move Your Lakk' or 'MYL'. Unlike the former, this one works because it's original, peppy and features a fresh and formidable trio of Sinha, Diljit Dosanjh and Badshah.
The highlight of the song is also its beginning and end. The titular character, played by Sinha, is brushing her teeth on a lazy morning but soon she finds that there is something fishy. What happens next is bizarre yet creative. The wall of her washroom cracks and reveals a disco next door.
However, you do wish that she could have entered that world of foot-tapping music in her pajamas rather than slipping into the black and red dresses. Given the girl-next-door personality of Noor, it would have been interesting to see her dance in her pajamas.
But that thought is put away at the sight of the two attractions of this song - Dosanjh and Badshah. Badshah has written and composed the song, and no brownie points for guessing, also crooned the mandatory rap sequence. As usual, he gets your foot tapping through an irresistibly catchy hook line and everything that leads up to that.
Dosanjh is low on screen presence in this one. But it is refreshing to see him embrace the fun-loving avatar after playing the role of a Punjabi folk singer in Anshai Lal's Phillauri that released last week. Dosanjh and Sinha have lent their voices to the song. Though their vocals have been liberally auto-tuned, the effect comes across well as it adds a dreamy touch to the song.
Noor also stars Purab Kohli, Kanan Gill and Shibani Dandekar. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar's T-Series. It is slated to release on 21 April.
