Chapter 4 of the trailer of Akshay Roy's upcoming romantic comedy Meri Pyaari Bindu explores a typical aspect of every romantic story - the girl being at odds with the boy's mother.
The chapter, titled Bindu vs Maa, delves deeper into Parineeti Chopra's, who plays Bindu, carefree character. Aware of the conservative mindset of her boyfriend Abhimanyu's, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, parents, she has devised a code to communicate with him - two rings on his telephone.
But her concern for his parents remains confined to those two rings. She coaxes Abhimanyu to adopt a stray puppy in his house. Then, at her hilarious best as a Tamil dubbing artiste, she goes on to hint at Abhimanyu being a part-time bar dancer to his parents, much to their shock. Abhimanyu's mom seeing him dance with abandon further validates Bindu's veiled revelation.
Just like the previous two chapters, the typewriter and cassettes return to the screen in this one as well. The background song is yet another 1980s disco song like 'Disco 82' from the last one - 'Auwa Auwa' from Babbar Subhash's 1982 musical Disco Dancer. The song not only adds to the old world charm of the film but also lends a helping hand to Bindu's musical aspirations and Abhimanyu's part-time 'guilty indulgences'.
The trailer of the film has been divided into chapters since Khurrana plays a writer in the film who narrates the story of his girlfriend Bindu. The makers have taken a cue from Gauri Shinde's slice of life drama from last year - Dear Zindagi that unfolded itself in the form of 'takes' rather than a full fledged theatrical trailer, since the protagonist Alia Bhatt played a cinematographer in the film.
Meri Pyaari Bindu is co-produced by Maneesh Sharma and Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films. It is the directorial debut of Roy and is slated to release on 12 May.
