The Meena Kumari biopic finds itself in an unusual dilemma. Tajdar Amrohi, the son of Kamal Amrohi and Mehmoodie (Kamal's first wife), and director Shashilal Nair were supposed to make the biopic together.
There had been creative differences between the two had decided to settle their differences for the film. However, things have now turned irrevocably sour.
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the two have terminated their partnership and will not be making the film together anymore. The two are, however, equally keen to make the biopic under their respective banners.
Tajdar claims that it is his parents' biopic and his permission needs to be sought to make a film based on his parents. He says that Nair can claim that since the two are primarily public figures, he can go ahead with the film, but fact remains that all the details of their personal life remains guarded with him. Both Nair and Tajdar have different scripts ready.
Nair has reportedly roped in Jackie Shroff to play Kamal and is in talks with a senior actress to play Kumari.
Nair has confirmed that his film will go on the floors in October. To this, Tajdar has said that if need be, he will seek legal action against the director and the actor who is playing his father. He terms this hullabaloo a 'cheap publicity stunt' by Nair, as per the report.
Nair, who has made films like One 2 Ka 4 and Ek Chhotisi Love Story before disappearing from the film scene, has said that he was expecting Tajdar to resort to these tactics in attempt to keep him from making the film.
Despite everything, he remains adamant on making the film under his banner itself.
