Lady Gaga has come toEd Sheeran's defense after the singer revealed he had quit Twitter, partly because her fans were relentlessly trolling him.
Gaga praised her fellow singer and said everyone needs to be kinder to one another, rather than being 'hateful and mean'.
Alongside a picture of Ed giving a thumbs up to camera while standing next to Gaga, she wrote on Instagram: "What an incredible talented artist. I love Ed. He deserves all our love and respect like all humans do. I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and a part of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean. "
The previous day Ed admitted that every time he logs onto the social networking site he ends up seeing negative tweets.
"I go on it and there's nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter's a platform for that. One comment ruins your day. But that's why I've come off it. The head-f**k for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much," Sheeran told The Sun newspaper.
Lady Gaga's fans have been trolling Sheeran since earlier this year after an interview in which a lot of people assumed he threw shade in her direction. In his Beats Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe, he said, "I do not want to be the kind of artist who has had two successful albums and then feels invincible. I have to know when to listen to people, or I'll end up like those artists you've interviewed in recent years."
