Kevin Spacey's brother reveals they were abused by their father while growing up
In wake of the allegations of sexual assault against actor Kevin Spacey, his elder brother Randall Fowler has given an interview to Daily Mail with telling details about the abuse the brothers faced in their home while growing up.
Randall Fowler has said that their father Thomas Geoffrey Fowler, a member of the American Nazi Party, regularly raped him. According to him, the brothers had a very troubled upbringing where they were so badly brutalised by their father that they called him ‘The Creature’.
The 58-year-old Oscar winning House of Cards actor, Kevin Spacey is facing allegations of trying to seduce actor Antony Rapp when he was 14 years old and of sexually assaulting a relative of the former USA news anchor Heather Unruh.
Spacey had created a further furor with a tweeted response that does not clearly qualify as an apology as he claims to not recall the incident. He has also come out as a gay man publicly with his tweet and said that he is encouraged to “address other things” about his life. Fowler’s interview perhaps point to some of the issues that Spacey might be referring to.
According to Randall Fowler, Kevin who shared the brutal upbringing, along with their sister Julia who later ran away from the home, dealt with the darkness by withdrawing in himself. He said, “There was so much darkness in our home it was beyond belief. It was absolutely miserable.”
“Kevin tried to avoid what was going on by wrapping himself in an emotional bubble. He became very sly and smart. He was so determined to try to avoid the whippings that he just minded his Ps and Qs until there was nothing inside. He had no feelings,” said Fowler, in the same interview.
In the aftermath of the allegations against Kevin Spacey, Netflix has canceled the hit series House of Cards and his Emmy honour has also been revoked.
