The series was originally meant only for Instagram and has gained popularity for portraying celebrities in a manner that they have never been seen before. Katrina Kaif joins Kate Moss, Kristen Stewart, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, Justin Bieber and Kendall Jenner in the league of celebrities photographed by Testino in the signature white towel.

Kaif was challenged by her friend and designer Anaita Shroff Adjania to post a picture in a towel. In response to this, the actress posted this picture with the caption, "Thank you @mariotestino for the wonderful experience of shooting for the legendary #TowelSeries ... You must come see us again soon . Here u go @anaitashroffadajania"

Kaif's photograph is the 135th in the series, and she is the first Bollywood actress to be featured in it. When the Peruvian photographer visited India in February this year, the actress praised him highly. "I think he does just the most beautiful, personal work. You can always tell a picture of his, I don't even have to read the credits. 95% of the time I see a picture and I know if Mario Testino has shot it because there is a certain eye to his work, certain beauty, certain delicateness," she said to News 18.

Kaif was last seen in Baar Baar Dekho directed by Nitya Mehra, where she starred opposite Sidharth Malhotra. Her upcoming releases include Anurag Basu's Jagga Jasoos which also features Ranbir Kapoor in a lead role. The film's release was considerably delayed because certain parts had to be re-shot. It is set to hit screens on 7 April, 2017.
