VIP 2: Kajol confesses she was initially apprehensive about signing Dhanush's film
Kajol is gearing up for the release of her next, Soundarya Rajinikanth's comedy drama VIP 2, her first South Indian film in 20 years.
Pinkvilla reports that the actor was apprehensive about taking up the film initially but the team, particularly her co-star Dhanush and Soundarya made her feel immensely comfortable which allowed her to give a nod to the makers. Another relief was half of her dialogues in the film were in English and she did not have to lip-sync in Tamil.
India Today quotes her as saying, "I was a little apprehensive. I wasn't sure if I'd do justice to the film. I think the film's team has worked around me and ensured that things were working for me per se. I really appreciate that about Soundarya and Dhanush. They made sure that my experience of working in a film down South was great fun."
Kajol wrapped up her portion of the shooting last month.
However, she remains tight-lipped about her role amidst rumours that she will be playing the antagonist or a character with grey shades for the second film in a row, her last being Rohit Shetty's family drama Dilwale two years ago.
Deccan Chronicle quotes her as saying, "The film is very different for both — Dhanush and me. They’re both well-defined characters and the script is interesting. I have strict instructions from Soundarya to not reveal anything about the film. All I can say is that it is very different from what you have seen of me on screen."
VIP 2 also stars Amala Paul, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Saranya Ponvannan and Monal Gajjar. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and Dhanush's Wunderbar Films, it is the sequel to Velraj's 2014 film VIP. It is slated to release in June.
