The Indian Express reports that while the film is only in its pre-production stage, the makers are eyeing an August 2017 release. To be directed by KS Ravindra aka Bobby, the Telugu entertainer will see Jr NTR in a triple role. Hindustan Times reports that one of the roles that Jr NTR will essay is expected to be a negative character.

The same report states that renowned international makeup artist Vance Hartwell has been flown down specially from Los Angeles to ensure that the makeup is perfectly effective. This is the first time that Jr NTR will resort to prosthetic in his career. However, Hartwell is sure to do a commendable job given his filmography including Peter Jackson's fantasy epic trilogy The Lord of the Rings and Martin Scorsese's 2010 neo-psychological thriller Shutter Island.

Jai Lava Kusa stars Raashi Khanna as one of the leading ladies. It will be produced by NTR Arts. The cinematography will be helmed by CK Muraleedharan who cranked the camera in Rajkumar Hirani's 2014 science fiction satire PK.

Jr NTR is on a roll after the success of his last film, Koratala Siva's 2016 action film Janatha Garge, which reportedly turned out to be one of the highest Telugu grossers of all time. While Bobby approached Jr NTR for Jai Lava Kusa months ago, Jr NTR was not convinced about it initially and accepted it only three months after the release of Janatha Garge last year.

Interestingly, Jr NTR's previous two films were also blockbusters - Puri Jagannadh's 2015 action entertainer Temper and Sukumar's 2016 action film Nannaku Prematho.
