Jagga Jasoos new song 'Musafir' reminds us of Ranbir's popular songs: Kabira, Agar Tum Saath Ho
There are moments when one starts singing a particular song and suddenly, seamlessly, switches to another song, and voila, you have a jam session ready.
It has happened with many recent Arijit Singh's numbers (which Singh performs religiously in almost all his live shows), Rahman songs and even more recently music composer Amit Trivedi did a somewhat similar stunt in his performance - Sound of Nation - at the Royal Stag Mirchi Music Awards 2017.
Jagga Jasoos' new song 'Musafir' was launched on 10 July by T-Series on YouTube.
The song starts with a mild music arrangement accompanied with singer Tushar Joshi — it sounds almost like) Gajendra Verma's popular single 'Emptiness'. And then the song enters a similar zone, with remnants of 'Kabira' from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) and 'Agar Tum Saath Ho' from Tamasha (2015) — two immensely popular songs from Ranbir Kapoor's films.
The song 'Musafir', despite sounding starkly similar to these songs, is a soothing number and has an effect on you when it ends. Penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and arranged by Pritam, the song reflects Jagga's inner void, affection and love for Shruti (Katrina's name in the film).
Jagga Jasoos, claimed to be a children's film, is directed by Anurag Basu, is a story about a young detective and adventurer (Jagga) in search of his missing father. In his quest, he is accompanied by a bespectacled journalist (Shruti).
