The latest song from Anurag Basu's action comedy adventure Jagga Jasoos, 'Khaana Khake Song', is intriguing but at the same time leaves you puzzled with the sheer diversity that the soundtrack brings to the table.
Every new song is unlike any of the previous ones. This explains why music composer Pritam took so long to put together every track in the film. This song, like every other song from the album released so far, has a quirky tonality but also seems to blend well into the narrative of the film.
Ranbir Kapoor is at his articulate best in the song, given his telling expressions and communicative body language. In comparison, Katrina Kaif falls short as a couple of her expressions are cliched to say the least. She aces only one expression, that of popping her eyes out while pulling off a straight faced smile. But one expression does not help when you share the screen space with Ranbir Kapoor.
In fact, the supporting cast does a far better job at emoting and upholding the quirkiness of the song with their straight-faced expressions. The lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya are simple but do convey the idea of how futile life is.
Jagga Jasoos also stars Sayani Gupta, Evelyn Sharma and Saswata Chatterjee. It is co-produced by Walt Disney India, Ranbir's Picture Shuru Productions and Basu's Ishana Movies. It is slated to release this Friday on 14 July.
