Jab Harry Met Sejal, Dunkirk, Gurgaon box office collection: Nolan's film still going strong

The past few weeks have seen a diverse brand of cinema being displayed on the silver screen, with movies like Jab Harry Met Sejal, Dunkirk and Gurgaon hitting the silver screen.

Jab Harry Met Sejal released on 4 August and did not receive the best reviews by film critics. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, the movie is centered around the relationship between a Punjabi tour guide (Harry) and a Gujrati girl who lost her ring during a family vacation and intends to find it no matter wwhat. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film has grossed a total of Rs 30.25 cr till now according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Dunkirk, which released on 21 July was deemed to be a cinematic wonder. Directed by the genius that is Christopher Nolan, the movie was appraised by critics world over, and did extremely well at the box office ever since its release.

At last count the movie had grossed over Rs 21.33 crores in India, according to a report by Koimoi. Dunkirk has World War 2 as its backdrop and is centered around the famous Dunkirk evacuation of the British and French during World War 2. A movie which did not have too many words but rather let its excellent screenplay do the talking, it also marked the Hollywood debut of the British boy band One Direction's former singer Harry Styles.

Closer to home, the film Gurgaon starring Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Obero is directed by Shanker Raman and has grossed over Rs 6.7 crore according to a report by 123boxofficecollections.comA hard hitting noir film, Gurgaon depicts greed, gender politics and family dysfunction in a relatable manner to the audience.
