Ittefaq: Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha starrer will have reprise version of classic song 'Raat Baki'
The upcoming film Ittefaq, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna, has been garnering a lot of attention ever since the trailer was released. The premise and genre of the film demands it to be sans songs, as proclaimed by the filmmakers themselves.
But, the film will feature a promotional song that will be a reprise version of the old Bollywood classic 'Raat Baki', reports Filmfare. Speaking to the publication, Juno Chopra, brother of the film's director Abhay Chopra, said, "It's a song-less film. We will have a promotional song but it won’t be part of the film. We have got this song 'Raat Baki Baat Baki'. It will be composed by Tanishk Bagchi."
Ittefaq is a riveting thriller that revolves around two murders, two suspects and two version of the crime. Incidentally, Abhay's grandfather and veteran filmmaker BR Chopra had produced a film of the same name in the year 1969.
Directed by BR Chopra's brother and legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, the old Ittefaq starred Rajesh Khanna and Nanda in lead roles. The film was a hit, especially because of the theme and treatment of the subject, which was not run-of-the-mill during those times.
'Raat Baki', the song is originally from the 1982 film, Namak Halal. It was sung by Bappi Lahiri and Asha Bhosle and featured Bollywood diva Parveen Babi, Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor.
Ittefaq is co-produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment. It is slated to release on 3 November, along with Rakhee Sandilya's romantic comedy Ribbon.
