Filmmaker Boney Kapoor has confirmed that his daughter Jhanvi Kapoor will make her silver screen debut with the acclaimed and successful director Karan Johar.
DNA reports that Boney has put all speculation to rest and confirmed that Jhanvi’s first foray into Hindi cinema will be under Johar’s banner Dharma Productions.
“Karan has been talking to us about a film for Jhanvi and we’ve given consent. But we don’t know which project it would be,” said Boney.
Rumours were doing the rounds that Johar is considering Jhanvi for the Hindi remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat directed by Nagraj Manjukle. Boney was unsure about the film that Jhanvi has been cast for but presumed that it is for Sairat.
“Since Karan has recently acquired the remake rights of Sairat it is being presumed that our daughter would be launched in this project,” said Boney.
Now that Boney has put all the rumours to rest, we know for sure that Johar will be giving Jhanvi her much-awaited break. Initially, there were reports that Johar was considering Jhanvi for Student Of The Year 2. The prequel, Student Of The Year had launched two of Jhanvi’s fellow industry kids in Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan.
In fact, Dharma Productions has been a great career launching machine as it has given the break to not only actors but also over 13 directors.
Spotboye reported that Jhanvi was also approached for a film by AR Murugadoss, the director of the acclaimed film Ghajini, but she turned down the offer.
India Today reported that Boney might launch his daughter under his own production banner but given his recent statement, Jhanvi has made up her mind to debut with Dharma Productions.
Jhanvi’s mother Sridevi made her debut in Hindi cinema with the 1975 film Julie. She went on to rule the box office carrying films on her shoulders.
