Yash Chopra was no ordinary director, defining popular Bollywood cinema continually and giving it some of its most memorable moments. Few directors have managed to define popular cinema as much as Chopra, who gave India some of its most popular heroes, heroines, dialogues and songs.

There are few alive presently who can claim to have grown up untouched by his films and it was evident on Twitter by the instant outpouring of shock and grief over the passing of the veteran film director.
