IIFA Awards 2017: Rains dampen green carpet plans at IIFA Rocks, but show does go on
New York: The weather played a spoilsport at the MetLife stadium, NY, as the Bollywood celebrities stayed away from walking the green carpet for the IIFA Rocks event.
The event, which was scheduled to welcome the who’s who of Bollywood, was cancelled by the organisers. Thousands of people braved the bone-chilling cold just to catch a glimpse of their favourite Indian stars at the event.
Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar, Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Anupam Kher, Diljit Dosanjh, Kamal Khan and Riteish Deshmukh among others attended the IFFA Rocks event eventually, once the rain subsided.
The second day of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) Awards 2017 – IIFA Rocks – celebrated the journey of AR Rahman in the film industry.
It featured a never-seen-before medley of musicians, including Rahman, Diljit Dosanjh, Javed Ali, Jonita Gandhi, Benny Dayal, Neeti Mohan and Haricharan Seshadri.
The event was hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Manish Paul.
The 18th edition of the awards ceremony is a three-day extravaganza that started from July 13 with a press conference, followed by IIFA Rocks event and the main event on Sunday 16 July. Adequate security arrangements have been made at the stadium to ensure the safety of people.
However, a few media persons complained that the security guards were rude to them and even threw them out of the green carpet area.
