Donald Trump has been making waves in India through his statements in favour of Hindus. His fellow American presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has also made it to the Indian discourse now. No, not for her proximity to any particular community or for her election campaign but for inquiring who Amitabh Bachchan is.

According to a report by NDTV, a leaked email of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary shows that she had asked about the Indian megastar to her close associate Huma Abedin.

“What's the name of the famous older Indian actor we met a few years ago?”

"Amitabh bachan (sic)."

While the Indian Twitterati took to the social networking site to bash the politician for her aloofness, they also attacked Abedin, who is from a Pakistani origin, for not getting Bachchan’s spelling right.

According to a report by PTI, the leaked email surfaced on Twitter when Jose A DelReal, national political reporter with The Washington Post, posted a picture in which the former US Secretary of State had asked Abedin about the actor they “met a few years ago.”

Bachchan’s fans did not take it kindly. As per a report by The Indian Express, a number of fans even demanded that Hillary be arrested for her lack of knowledge about the four-time National Award winner.

The series of leaked emails has been an issue for Clinton for a long time now. In the final leg of the election campaign, FBI Director James Comey sent a letter to Congress about a renewed inquiry into her leaked emails.

Abedin is currently in the middle of a political storm after FBI started reviewing some 6,50,000 emails found on a laptop belonging to her estranged husband, former Congressman Anthony Weiner, that may be related to the investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State during President Barack Obama's first term.
