The much anticipated Hellboy reboot has found its villain, and it's none other than Milla Jovovich of Resident Evil fame.
The actor has reportedly been roped in to portray the devilish character of the Blood Queen in the upcoming film and is in the final stages of negotiations to come on board the project, according to a Deadline report.
Directed by Neil Marshall, the film (newly titled Hellboy) stars David Harbour — famous for his Stranger Things character — in the titular role. He will be portraying the role of the red-skinned creature that was orignally conceptualised by Ron Perlman in the Guillermo del Toro movies.
Joining him will be actor Ian McShane (announced recently), who is all set to play the character of Professor Broom. Writer Andrew Cosby is said to be working on the latest draft of the script that was originally penned down by Mike Mignola, Aron Coleite and Christopher Golden.
Hellboy is produced by Lloyd Levi, Mike Richardson and Larry Gordon, backed by the companies Liongate and Millennium Films. Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell are also co-producers through Campbell Grobman Films.
Jovovich has dabbled heavily in the sci-fi genre in the past, however the actor is most popular for her roles in the Resident Evil movies, along with Ultraviolet and The Fifth Element.
Marshall too is a pro at the genre, having just wrapped up the pilot episode of the Netflix show Lost in Space. He is also the directorial brain behind many a Game of Thrones episodes, along with the visually stimulating sensibilities that he has shown in movies like Centurion, Dog Soldiers and The Descent. With such a vast kitty of experience in fantastical sci-fi, we can expect the Hellboy reboot not to disappoint.
