Has Shah Rukh Khan been confirmed for Rakesh Sharma biopic? Shoot to reportedly begin in September
After months of speculation, Shah Rukh Khan has been confirmed to play astronaut Rakesh Sharma in his biopic titled Salute, reports Deccan Chronicle. Earlier, there were reports of Aamir Khan backing out, making way for Shah Rukh. The actor will reportedly start shooting in September.
Shah Rukh is currently busy with the Anand L Rai film Zero opposite his Jab Tak Hai Jaan co-actresses, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. He had denied signing any other film at several occasions. It is now being reported that Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur approached SRK quite a number of times after Aamir opted out of the film and the actor finally gave his nod this month. "Zero is a film which will require a lot of VFX. Shah Rukh will wrap up Zero by April. He will perhaps begin the shoot of Salute by September and will shoot for close to two to three months and wrap its first schedule. The next schedule of Salute will begin from Jan 2019,” a source tells the publication.
Salute will be directed by Mahesh Mathai. Initially, Priyanka Chopra was confirmed as the female lead opposite Aamir. As soon as Aamir was out of the project, Priyanka too confirmed she too no more a part of the biopic. Another report by Deccan Chronicle suggests that after Shah Rukh gave his nod to the project, Priyanka had to opt out, as the two no longer work together.
It is yet not confirmed that who will be seen as Rakesh Sharma's wife in the film.
