Shah Rukh Khan is all set to play a life coach to Alia Bhatt's confused millennial character in Gauri Shinde's upcoming film Dear Zindagi. It's a role SRK is wonderfully suited for, given that he's been known to impart wisdom on life in his wry way. As the superstar celebrates his 51st birthday on 2 November 2016, here is a compilation of the best life advice SRK has shared, be it at various events he has attended, on his social media handles and in his films:
Life Lesson 1: Fight like a girl
When Gunjan Jain launched her book She Walks, She Leads featuring success stories of India's most powerful women includes Nita Ambani, Priyanka Chopra; Shah Rukh Khan was present at the launch. In honor of the occasion and keeping in line with his quirky sense of humour, King Khan came up with an impromptu poetry recital that was inspired by One Direction's Zayn Malik.
The best lines from his poem?
Let your hair down, straight or curls,
You’re beautiful because you fight like a girl.
Life Lesson 2: Support our boys
Shah Rukh Khan also penned and recorded a special message in the form of a poem for Indian soldiers, as a way to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's #Sandesh2Soldiers initiative. Incidentally, Khan launched his career by starring in Doordarshan's Fauji, in which he played Lt Abhimanyu Rai.

The best lines are:
It's our life to live because it's theirs to give.
The heroes should not remain unsung because we can't imagine their plight.
We grow stronger and bolder because theirs is the fight. The fight of a soldier.
Life Lesson 3: On failure and success
In 2012, SRK enthralled the students of Yale University as he came to the institute as a Chubb Fellow, and gave a speech on success, failure and living life to the fullest.
The best line:
Failure is a fiendish friend that can lead to success by teaching one to be pragmatic, to work harder, and to be true to oneself.
Life Lesson 4: Josh zaroori hai
Shah Rukh Khan received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom in 2015. In his acceptance speech, he doled out advice on tackling obstacles, battling fear and the importance of being kind to the gathered audience.
The best line:
If you aren't charged up about doing something, if you don't have, what in Hindi we call the "Josh", the fire in your belly for it, then don't do it.
Life Lesson 5: It's all about loving your family
Like the Karan Johar films he is best known for, one of the most important things to Shah Rukh Khan is his family.
His most quotable quotes on family:
My biggest regret is that the more I rise higher in life, the more I miss my mother.
