'Salman uncle calls me pagal': Here's all you need to know about Harshali Malhotra
Not too many people can boast of stealing Salman Khan's thunder. And here is Harshali Malhotra, all of 2 feet something, who is now being touted as the real hero of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Playing the mute girl from Pakistan, who is lost in India, Munni (Malhotra) is escorted back to her home town by our own Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Munni is actually at the centre of the plot, and the film revolves around getting her back home. If there were no Munni, there would be no Bajrangi Bhaijaan, as much as we'd hate to admit it.
So what do we know about Harshali Malthora? Apart from the fact that she is actually really talkative in real life, and she cried "whenever Salman uncle cried" there's not much we know about this cute girl. Also, Salman 'uncle' calls little Harshali pagal.
During the making of the poster shoot of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, there is an adorable moment between Salman and the little Harshali. "Dikh nahi raha na face, fir kahan dikhogi, pagal! Juhu pe dikhna chahiye na," Salman says in the video. You can watch the video here:
But apart from being adorably close to Salman, what else do we know of this little wonder? We did a little digging around the internet to find a little more information about Munni from Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Here's what we found.
Commercials and television shows
Pears ads are known for casting the cutest children, and Malhotra has made an appearance in one such ad. In it, she's seen giving her mum a "Miss Mummy" sash and saying, "Aap sabse beautiful ho". Watch the TVC here:
She has also been in a Hyundai TVC. You may remember the ad's jingle from flipping though TV channels. "Multiply your drive.. get more out of life") :
She also played a part in the Tv show ‘Laut Aao Trisha’ which appeared on Life Ok. In this serial, she plays famous actress Bhagyasree's daughter. Here's a snippet:
What the cast of Bajrangi Bhaijaan has to say about Harshali Malhotra
One of the first things she asked Salman Khan during the shooting of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is, "aap mujhe bhi apni tarah superstar banayenge?" (will you make me a superstar like you?). Khan tells Times of India about the incident, "I thought her mother might have taught her this. Then I asked her mother about it. Harshali's mother told me that she is like that only. She has already decided what she is going to do. She has set her goals."
Director Kabir Khan has stated that casting Malhotra was of utmost importance in his film. During the shoot, it was very important that she played the part of a mountain girl who couldn't speak, down to the description. In the video below, Kabir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Salman speak about their experience of working with Malhotra.
"She's one of the most beautiful kids I have seen. I had a great time working with her," says Salman. Meanwhile, you can see a candid Harshali distracting Kabir Khan playfully during the shoot, but also doing dangerous shots near trains and steep mountain peaks with ease.
Infact, Kareena herself admits that Malhotra is the real star of the movie. Watch the video here:
Watch Malhotra wish her fans Eid Mubarak in this adorable 5 second video:
