Emma Stone has been named the highest paid actress of the world for the year 2017, with earnings amounting to a whopping $26 million, by www.forbes.com.

The actress, who garnered rave reviews for her portrayal of Mia Dolan, an aspiring actress in La La Land, was instrumental in boosting the film's collections to an unbelievable $440 million.

Jennifer Aniston comes in second with $25.5 million. Just half a million away from the top spot, Aniston is proof that endorsements can take one really far. She is regularly seen advertising airline giant Emirates. Although her popularity shot through the roof with Friends, she continues to rule Hollywood with the roles she portrays in films. She was last seen in Alexandre Moors' war film The Yellow Birds.

The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence is named the third highest paid actress in the world with earnings totalling $24 million. The amount, however, is less than half of what she had made in 2016 ($52 million), which secured her the top spot then. She last starred in Passengers, a 2016 sci-fi film, opposite Chris Pratt.

Actress-comedian Melissa McCarthy has also secured the fourth spot in the highest paid actress' list with a total of $18 million. Although, far lesser than what she raked in in 2016, ($33 million), her popularity continues to soar high, specifically after her Ghostbusters stint.

The actress to have come in fifth is Mila Kunis with a sweet $15.5 million in her kitty. Although her last film was the 2016 comedy Bad Moms, her character definitely did do wonders to her career graph. Although many think that she has not been much active in the film circle after the birth of her daughter and son, her earnings state otherwise.

What's interesting to note is that there is not a single woman of colour in the top ten highest paid actresses; there is no African-American, Indian, Asian or South American actress (among others) present on the list. The top ten spots have been secured by just white women of Hollywood - Two Jennifers, Emma Watson, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts and the likes.

Deepika Padukone was expected to be on the list due to her performance in xXx: Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel, but she could not make the cut.
