Complaint against Ajay Devgn's 'Shivaay' poster for 'hurting religious sentiments'

Within days of its poster release, Ajay Devgn's film Shivaay is already in the midst of trouble.

Certain groups have filed a legal complaint against actor-producer Ajay for hurting religious sentiments with the Shivaay poster.

The poster in question shows Ajay Devgn rappelling down a mountain, an ice pick in hand, seemingly ready to do battle with monsters. In some photos, the pick looks like Lord Shiva's trishul.

The actor had released a teaser for the same on Saturday, and then took to Twitter on Sunday to share the film's poster.

As it turns out, some of them thought it was offensive.

The complaint, filed in Delhi's Tilak Nagar police station, specifically states that an image of Ajay climbing Lord Shiva's figure with shoes on, is hurtful to devotees.

A closer look at the poster will show that it isn't so much a figure of Shiva, as the outline of it that is suggested in the way the ice has been carved out, around Ajay.

Neither Ajay nor his team have issued any statement about the complaint so far.

Shivaay is expected to release on 28 October 2016.
