Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan team up for Trivikram Srinivas film; a first for brothers
After the success of Khaidi No 150, Chiranjeevi will soon be seen in another film — this time with his brother Pawan Kalyan.
The brothers, whose ruling position in the Telugu film industry is reflected in the monikers they have been given (megastar for Chiranjeevi, Power Star for Pawan Kalyan) have never acted in a film together so far.
They are also political rivals, with Pawan Kalyan heading the Jana Sena Party, and Chiranjeevi the Praja Rajyam Party, which was later merged with the Congress.
The film the brothers will co-star in, is being directed by Trivikram Srinivas, and is produced by Subbarami Reddy.
Reddy issued a statement to the press which read: "I felt that Trivikram is the best director to make this movie. (When) I met Trivikram for the second time at my residence, (we) finalised the movie. I am happy to announce that I will be producing this mega movie with the association of another great producer — C Ashwini Dutt."
The announcement has understandably caused a lot of excitement among fans of Telugu cinema, especially since the relationship between the two brothers has been a subject of some speculation (although Chiranjeevi has repeatedly said there is no animosity between him and Pawan Kalyan).
Earlier, Pawan Kalyan was expected to be at the audio launch for Chiranjeevi's Khaidi No 150, but had to stay away because of his own film commitments. Reports stated that he later visited Chiranjeevi at his home to congratulate him on the success of his comeback film, his 150th.
The film in which the brothers will co-star doesn't have a title yet.
Pawan Kalyan will next be seen in Katamaryudu while Chiranjeevi will next be seen in director Surender Reddy's biopic on the the freedom fighter UN Reddy.
