Sushant Singh Rajput, who is currently busy prepping and shooting for his space-adventure film Chanda Mama Door Ke, has a list of films lined up this year — Robbie Grewal's RAW, Tarun Mansukhani's Drive and Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath. As per Firstpost's earlier story, he had also signed another film with Abhishek Chaubey that revolves around the dacoits of the Chambal valley and is set in the 1970s.
Now, adding to this, a Times of India's report suggests that actress Bhumi Pednekar will be seen opposite Rajput in the film. It further adds that Pednekar, like Rajput, will portray a dacoit, and there will also be a romantic angle between the two. She had reportedly okayed the film a month ago. The film's production is scheduled to kickstart early next year. Meanwhile, director Chaubey and his team have already started recce-ing and finalising locations.
"Some of them (the Chambal dacoits) have more than 80 murder charges against them. Everyone has heard horror stories about the dacoits of Chambal but I've realised the reality is quite different from what Hindi films portray. We aim to capture that reality," says Sudip Sharma who has co-written the film's script with Chaubey, as quoted by Firstpost in one of its previous reports.
Rajput's last release — Raabta along with Kriti Sanon — failed at the box office. Pednekar has two back-to-back releases coming up — Toilet: Ek Prem Katha along with Akshay Kumar and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan with her first co-actor Ayushmann Khurrana. Both films revolve around a social angle and are essentially part of the slice-of-life genre.
The untitled film will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala who is now focusing on independent film production after quitting UTV Motion Pictures.
