Shah Rukh Khan issued recovery notice of Rs 5.5 lakh by Varanasi police for providing security
Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma recently visited Varanasi to promote their film Jab Harry Met Sejal, which released on 4 August. According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan has been issued a recovery notice of Rs 5.59 lakh by the Varanasi police for using police security during his visit in the city.
The promotional event required the deployment of a Superintendent of police as well as 224 personnel for Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and director Imtiaz Ali. BJP MP and Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari was also present. This security was provided to them at the venue of the event, as well as the airport and other places they visited.
The venue Ashoka Institute of Technology and Management had paid only Rs 51,132, confirmed SSP RK Bhardwaj, while the total costs amounted to Rs 6.11 lakhs. This was cited as the reason why the Varanasi police department sent a recovery notice.
The organisers of the event claim that it was held only for an hour and that they paid Rs 51,132 as quoted by the department. "We have requested the police department to recover the remaining amount from Shah Rukh Khan and his team for providing them security for their other program in the city," said organiser Ankit Maurya. He added that only a few of the personnel were present at the venue, while a majority were deployed for Khan's personal excursions in the city.
