Shahid Kapoor’s wife Mira Rajput has been in the limelight since her wedding to the star three years ago. She made her first television appearance with him on Koffee with Karan Season 10. She touched upon her arranged marriage with Shahid, her daughter Misha, how receptive she is of the Hindi film industry and marrying early. File Photo[/caption] She received a lot of flak on social media for choosing to settle down with a rich and famous husband rather than pursuing a career after her graduation from a prestigious institute in Lady Shri Ram (LSR) college. She clarified her stance at a function held to celebrate International Women’s Day. She focused on the changing tone of feminism and how it is just becoming the female counterpart of male chauvinism. Mid-Day quotes her as saying, “Feminism is not man versus woman. The new wave of feminism is aggressive and destructive. There is a term called FemeNazi, which is now becoming the female equivalent of male chauvinist.” She explained that she is a homemaker by choice and has decided to invest her time and energy in raising her daughter. The Indian Express quotes her saying, “I am a homemaker and wear that label with pride. I had a tough pregnancy. I went through those five months of difficult times to bring our daughter into this world. I wouldn’t want to spend one hour with Misha and then rush off to work. Why did I have her? Misha is not a puppy. I want to be there for her. Seeing her grow can’t be quantified.” Rajput also commented how she was being shamed for her post-pregnancy weight to such an extent that she felt ashamed to flaunt the extra fat. The Times of India quotes her saying, “You can take your time to lose that weight. But you need to come to terms with the fact that your body is going to be different for a certain amount of time and it’s not permanent. After that you can set your goal and say I want to get fit.” Just like her and Shahid’s comments on arranged marriage on Koffee with Karan, her remarks on feminism also extracted extreme reaction on Twitter.
