Bareilly Ki Barfi: New poster shows Rajkummar Rao draped in sari, as Kriti, Ayushmann look on
The Ayushmann Khurrana-Kriti Sanon-Rajkummar Rao starrer Bareilly Ki Barfi is all set to release on 18 August in theatres. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the film is a realistic take on relationships with a hint of humour amid real, grounded settings in North India.
The makers of the film recently launched a new poster of the film that shows the three lead characters in the film. It mainly focuses on Rao's character (Pritam Vidrohi) who seems to be a simpleton. He's shown draped in a sari. The other two — Sanon (Biiti) and Khurrana (Chirag) — look inquisitive and exhausted, respectively, with Vidrohi. The first poster was released in the month of July.
The Bareilly Ki Barfi team took to Twitter on 9 August and released the latest poster:

According to the trailer, the film's story is a love triangle and revolves around Bitti, who rebels against the conservative norms set by her family. Her parents want to get her married, but Bitti just doesn't want to settle down. Enter Chirag, who is in love with her, and enlists Pritam's help to win her heart — but she ends up falling for the latter instead.
Now, according to a Mumbai Mirror report, veteran writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar has been roped in to be the narrator of this rom-com. Speaking about this development, directed Iyer Tiwari says, "In any small town where houses are closely stuck, everybody is a part of the family and knows exactly what's happening in whose house. So the sutradhar (narrator) in our film is a neighbour who has been a witness to the Mishras' interesting journey."
Juno Chopra, who is a co-producer of the film, played a key role in getting Akhtar on board. About Akhtar's contribution, Chopra says, "The narrator had to be someone who enriches the story with dollops of humour with his understanding of language, intonations and expressions. Who better than Javed sir?"
Bareilly Ki Barfi is co-produced by Junglee Pictures and BR Studios. It is the second directorial venture of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari after her 2016 film, Nil Battey Sannata. The film has been written by Iyer Tiwari's husband, Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari, along with Shreyas Jain.
