Watch: Bandook Meri Laila from A Gentleman boasts of an irresistible hook line
The long-awaited track from Raj and DK's upcoming action romance A Gentleman, 'Bandook Meri Laila', has been launched. As was evident in the trailer of the film and teaser of the song, the hook line is irresistibly catchy and is backed by an equally gripping tune and rap sequence.
What the music composer duo Sachin-Jigar should be complemented the most for, besides the foot-tapping beats of the song, is their creative call to rope in four singers who bring their best to the track, rather than having one dominate the entire song.
Firstly, Ash King surprises the listeners with his versatility as the lead singer. The same vocalist who gained popularity through the romantic song 'I Love You' from Siddique's 2011 action comedy Bodyguard, has surprised his fans with his progress. His last hit, 'Baarish' from Mohit Suri's romantic comedy Half Girlfriend earlier this year is yet another example.
Secondly, Jigar Saraiya uses the depth of his voice to lend the hook line of the song. His flawless intonation adds volumes to the song. Thirdly, Raftaar follows the hook line with a supporting hook line which is even more catchy than the main hook line. He brings oodles of swag to the little, yet lots, he contributes to the song.
Finally, the lead actor of the film, Sidharth Malhotra, makes an impressive singing debut by crooning a rap sequence that falls just right in the place and is positioned very well in the song. However, his lip-sync into the camera is quite shaky though he emotes far better in the action sequences that intersperse the video.
Jacqueline Fernandez has little to do in the song than just demonstrating sensual moves and look unbelievably hot - a feat that she achieves effortlessly. Her impassioned gestures with the gun prove why her character is the focal point of the lyrics of the song, which are written commendably by VAYU.
A Gentleman also stars Suniel Shetty, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Darshan Kumar, Kushal Punjabi and Rajit Kapoor. It is produced by Fox Star Studios and is slated to release on 25 August, along with Habib Faisal's musical ensemble Qaidi Band.
