Twenty eight years ago, Bhagyashree made her debut opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's romantic drama Maine Pyar Kiya. It turned out to be an ideal launch vehicle for all three of them as it was not only Barjatya's directorial debut but also Khan's first film.
Now, Bhagyashree's son Abhimanyu Dassani finds himself in a similar arrangement. Deccan Chronicle reports that Dassani is gearing up to make his debut in a martial arts film produced by Anurag Kashyap's Phantom Films. He will be paired opposite television actor Radhika Madan who will also make her cinema debut with this film. Her claim to fame is the daily soap, Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi.
Titled Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, the film will be directed by Kashyap's longtime assistant Vasan Bala who has been collaborating with the filmmaker since the 2009 black comedy Dev D. Bala's first directorial was the 2012 crime thriller Peddlers which was screened at Cannes as a part of the 2012 International Critics' Week. However, Peddlers did not get a mainstream theatrical release which implies that Bala's next will technically be his big directorial debut.
While Bhagyashree made her debut in a typical Rajshree Films romantic family drama, her son's debut will be on completely different lines. The same report states that both Dassani and Madan have been undergoing intense training for the past one year to get in shape for the high-octane action drama that their next film will entail. The film will also star Tamil actor Vijay Sethupati in a key role.
NDTV reports that Dassani has worked as an assistant director to filmmaker Rohan Sippy in two films - the 2011 crime thriller Dum Maaro Dum and the 2013 romantic comedy Nautanki Saala. Now, he is all set to make a dream acting debut under Kashyap which has produced the likes of Kalki Koechlin, Mahi Gill, Richa Chaddha, Huma Qureshi and most recently, Sobhita Dhulipala.
