Barry Dennen, recording artist and Jesus Christ Superstar actor, passes away at 79
Barry Dennen, who essayed the role of Pontius Pilate in the stage and also lent his voice to the album of Jesus Christ Superstar has passed away. According to Deadline, the actor had sustained a brain injury after falling at home in June. He was 79.
A multi-talented man, Dennen had an illustrious career as a voice artist, writer and singer. Born in Chicago, he moved to New York and started participating in workshops and getting attuned to the cabaret circuit of the city. However, he gained massive recognition after he moved from The Big Apple to London.
Dennen established himself in the American television scene by playing numerous small roles. His film credentials include Galtar and the Golden Lance, Batman, Tales from the Darkside and Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.
His cinematic credentials include films like The Kentucky Fried Movie, Madhouse, The Shining, Brannigan, Ragtime, Twin Sitters, Trading Places, Superman III and Titanic. His talents were not just limited to acting and singing as he also recorded for several popular cartoon like Batman: The Animated Series, DuckTales, The Pirates of Dark Water, Animaniacs, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Dennen is survived by his two sons, as per the same Deadline report.
