'Barfani', the new song from Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has been released and it is a captivating experience, both visually and auditorily. Lead actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bidita Bag's crackling chemistry comes through in the song. Armaan Malik, once again, proves his versatility with another track.
The song has been composed by Gaurav Dagaonkar, whose music accentuates Ghalib Asad Bhopali's beautiful lyrics.
The words of the song are evocative, yet subtle - a quality that has been mastered by very few lyricists over the years.
Bhopali's lyrics lend the right mood to the song, without letting it cross over to the other side, that many would instantly deem as 'vulgar'. However, the lyrics lend the song the right taste, reminding us throughout that less is more.
Both Siddiqui and Bag are reminiscent of an equally intriguing Manoj Bajpayee and Reema Sen in Gangs of Wasseypur, pulling off the rustic look, effortlessly.
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz looks like a film with multiple shades. Taking Siddiqui's character as an example, one moment he is a gun-wielder who lives for thrills and then he turns into a passionate lover, drinking alcohol and puffing cigarettes, with an equally riveting Bag.
