Do you know why Katappa killed Baahubali? Well, Queen Elizabeth II will tell you a day before the long-awaited Baahubali: The Conclusion hits the theatres on 28 April. The world premiere of SS Rajamouli's war epic will take place on 27 April in the United Kingdom (UK).
The Indian Express reports that two years ago, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced, on his visit to the UK, a year-long celebration to mark the occasion of completion of 70 years of the Indian Independence. As a part of the celebration, both the countries will showcase the best of films made by each other from April 2017 to December 2017.
The same report suggests that among the Indian films to be screened in the UK, one of the first ones will be Baahubali: The Conclusion. Its prequel Baahubali: The Beginning was lauded worldwide for its special effects, including in the UK. It even won the National Award for Best Feature Film. Thus, India chose to premiere Baahubali: The Conclusion in the UK on such a special occasion.
Besides Queen Elizabeth II, Modi will also attend the premiere in the UK, as per a report by International Business Times. The same report states that the queen, along with her husband, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, and grandson Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, hosted the UK-India 2017 Year of Culture reception last month.
It was attended by a host of Indian celebrities like Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, actors Kamal Haasan and Suresh Gopi, cricketer Kapil Dev, fashion designers Manish Malhotra and Manish Arora, singer-cum-actor Gurudas Mann and sitar maestro Anoushka Shankar.
Baahubali: The Conclusion stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia. While a couple of posters of the film have been released, its trailer is scheduled to be launched at a grand event in the middle of March.
