As SS Rajamouli's war epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion rages on at the box office across the globe, its villain Bhallaladeva, played by Rana Daggubati, has revealed something about himself not too many knew. Amidst all the fanfare around the Baahubali franchise, a video from 2016 has resurfaced on social media in which Daggubati is seen revealing that he is blind in his right eye.
The video is from a Telugu motivational show on Gemini channel in which Daggubati is giving a pep talk to visually impaired people. NDTV translates Daggubati as claiming that he cannot see from his right eye. In fact, if he closes his left eye, he can not even see anything.
Daggubati further adds that his right eye is a result of organ donation. "Dr LV Prasad operated me when I was young. Study well, we will support, be courageous as you have to look after her. Sorrows will go away one day but you have to gear up and keep them happy always," says Daggubati to the young son of a visually impaired woman.
"If I close my left eye I cannot see anyone. I only see out of my left eye. The left eye has been donated. The hospital that your mother had gone to, L V Prasad Hospital, is where I was treated. The operation happen when I was a kid, I was your brother's age at that time," The Asian Age translates his quote.
Thus, in spite of playing the larger than life evil role of King Bhallaladeva in the Baahubali franchise, Daggubati has managed to inspire many more to not only be courageous but also sign up for organ donation as one's organs could prove to be a boon to someone else.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion also stars Prabhas, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan. It is produced by Deviprasad Srineni and Shobu Yarlagadda's Arka Mediaworks.
