Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan left his audience stunned with his thrilling direction in Badlapur two years ago. However, he refrained from announcing his next project. Now, he finally has.
His next film will star the unique pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu. DNA reports that the filmmaker had initially approached Varun Dhawan for the role, with whom he had collaborated on Badlapur, which is considered Dhawan's most nuanced act till date. However, Dhawan turned it down for reasons best known to both the parties.
Next, Raghavan approached Harshvardhan Kapoor for the same role but he also followed suit by turning down the role. However, Deccan Chronicle reports that Khurrana has given a thumbs up to Raghavan and he will be seen opposite Tabu in his next, which is essentially a thriller.
The same report suggests that this untitled film is expected to go on floors after a couple of months and is slated to release sometime this year. Tabu, however, will start shooting for Rohit Shetty's comedy ensemble Golmaal 4 next month.
Tabu has recently collaborated with a few actors of the new breed, like Shahid Kapoor in Vishal Bhardwaj's 2014 crime drama Haider and Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif in Abhishek Kapoor's romantic drama from last year, Fitoor. Raghavan's film will mark her first collaboration not only with Khurrana but also the director.
As far as Khurrana is concerned, he did not have a single release last year. His last outing was Sharad Kataria's romantic comedy Dum Laga Ke Haisha in 2015. Now, he will be seen in Akshay Roy's Meri Pyaari Bindu opposite Parineeti Chopra, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari's Bareilly Ki Barfi opposite Kriti Sanon and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan opposite Bhumi Pednekar, besides the untitled film with Tabu.
However, it is highly probable that his film opposite Tabu releases before any of his other films.
