Avika Gor on Cannes red carpet: Former 'Balika Vadhu' star is all grown up, and how!
We've known for a while that Avika Gor is no longer the little girl we were introduced to in Balika Vadhu.
After all, she played a pretty grown-up role as Roli in the long-running series Sasural Simar Ka.
But seeing Avika on the Cannes red carpet in an evening gown, was still a minor jolt of sorts.
Avika was at the Cannes Film Festival along with Sasural Simar Ka co-star Manish Raisinghani. The duo have worked together on a short film called Ankahee Baatein, which was selected for the 'Short Film Corner' at Cannes. Avika is the creative director on the project while Manish is the lead actor, alongside Barkha Bisht.
Manish and Avika had unveiled the trailer and poster of the film earlier, and on Saturday, they were seen walking the red carpet for the premiere of Xavier Dolan's It's Only The End of The World. Dolan's film ended up winning the Grand Prix at the festival's conclusion on Sunday night. Avika chose a one-shouldered gown that skimmed the floor, wore her hair in soft curls and kept her make-up and jewellery to a minimum.

Avika was not the only TV actress to be seen at the festival. A few days earlier, Sonal Sehgal, seen in shows like Hotel Kingston, was also present at Cannes for her film Mantostaan. The film has adapted some of Manto's stories for the screen. Of her experience at Cannes, Sonal had said: "Cannes is like a pilgrimage for an actor. Everybody needs to do it at least once in their career".
Another actress who got a fair share of the red carpet limelight at Cannes was Amy Jackson. Amy wowed in a series of smart sartorial choices — everything from a smart pantsuit to a form-hugging evening gown and a Jani-Khosla gold minidress — and despite her comparatively low key appearance, managed to impress the media back home.
