It was earlier reported that the release date of Asim Ahuwalia's crime drama Daddy, the biopic of gangster-turned-politican Arun Gawli, has been pushed by over one and a half months.
It was postponed at the request of Gawli's daughter Geeta, who is hopeful that her father will get parole in September 2017 and thus might be able to speak to the audience about the film.
The initial release date of the film was 21 July where it would have clashed with Sabbir Khan's action musical Munna Michael and Alankrita Shrivastava's Lipstick Under My Burkha. Now, it will compete with two other films on its new release date on 8 September.
The first film is Akshat Verma's Kalaakaandi which stars Saif Ali Khan and Shobita Dhulipala in key roles. The other film is Shreyas Talpade's directorial debut Poster Boys, starring Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Sonali Kulkarni, Lara Dutta and Urvashi Rautela.
This box office clash transports one back to early 2000s as three stars of that time - Arjun Rampal, who plays the titular role in Daddy, Saif and Sunny - will lock horns with each other at the box office.
Daddy also stars Aishwarya Rajesh and will mark the debut of Rampal in the capacity of a producer.
