AR Rahman to compose music for Indian remake of The Fault in our Stars, reportedly starring Sushant Singh Rajput
The Indian remake of the 2014 American film The Fault In Our Stars has been in the buzz for a while. It marks the directorial debut of Bollywood's ace casting director Mukesh Chhabra and stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the male lead. Now, it is being reported that Oscar Award-winning Indian composer AR Rahman has been roped in to compose music for the upcoming romantic drama.
Confirming the development, Rahman spoke to Mumbai Mirror and said, "When I heard the narration of their Indian adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars and especially how music is so beautifully woven into the narrative, I got quite excited."
Chhabra has worked in many films with Rahman onboard as the music composer, but having the legendary composer as part of his directorial venture is "a dream come true" for him.
The Fault In Our Stars (the film) is based on John Green's bestselling novel of the same name. The film stars Shailene Woodley (of Divergent fame) and Ansel Elgort (recently seen in 2017 acclaimed film Baby Driver). The premise of the story is around a love story between two teenagers who suffer from cancer. The film (and the book) delves into the minds of cancer patients who look forward to something more than just receiving solidarity and consoling.
The Indian remake is backed by Fox Star Studios, which has previously collaborated with Rahman on Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire, that also got the Mozart of Madras his first Academy Award for Best Original Score.
Any further details on the film related to its female lead or the date of release is not yet known.
