Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline to co-star in Rutba? Hectic shooting schedules suggest otherwise
It was earlier reported how Akshay Kumar is on a film signing spree with over half a dozen films in his kitty. Now, reports of yet another film have been doing the rounds in which he will be seen romancing Jacqueline Fernandez onscreen.
The two actors have shared screen space in Sajid Khan's Housefull franchise and Karan Malhotra's 2015 sports drama Brothers. Hindustan Times reports that Fernandez had also enrolled for Akshay Kumar's self defense school that he initiated in collaboration with Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray. Now, India.com reports that there were plans of the two reuniting for Rutba, a romantic comedy, to be co-produced by Akshay Kumar under his banner Grazing Goat Productions.
However, Bollywood Life reports that this film is not on the cards right now. Kumar's spokesperson has clarified that the star is only focusing on R Balki's Padman, Shree Narayan Singh's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, S Shankar's 2.0 and the Salman Khan-Karan Johar production.
Besides these four films, Kumar has also announced Neeraj Pandey's Crack, Subhash Kapoor's Moghul and Reema Kagti's Gold. Thus, it is certain that his dates may be blocked till well into next year.
On the other hand, Fernandez is also quite occupied with her shooting commitments. While she is gearing up for the release of Krishna and DK's action entertainer Reloaded opposite Siddharth Malhotra, she will soon start shooting for David Dhawan's comedy Judwaa 2 opposite Varun Dhawan.
After wrapping that up, she will begin shooting for Tarun Mansukhani's action entertainer Drive opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, which is being produced by yet another busy bee, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
As the two stars are busy with their respective films, the chances of them crossing paths professionally are merely distant and not impossible.
